College Students’ Employment Psychological Adaptation and Mental Health Development from the Perspective of Career Construction Theory

Deli Sun

Abstract

Objective

Intense social employment competition triggers prominent career psychological pressure among college students, causing maladjusted employment mental states and hindering sustainable mental health development. Existing career education rarely combines professional theoretical guidance with psychological adaptation intervention. Based on Career Construction Theory, this study explores the internal correlation between employment psychological adaptation and mental health, aiming to ease career pressure, stabilize individual mental states and promote sound mental health development.

Subjects and Methods

This study adopts questionnaire surveys and empirical statistical analysis, taking graduating college students as research objects. It designs measurement scales covering employment adaptation, career psychological pressure and mental health indicators, collects valid sample data, and systematically analyzes the influencing mechanism of psychological adaptation on students’ mental states and mental health levels.

Results

Poor employment psychological adaptation significantly aggravates college students’ career psychological pressure and induces negative and fluctuating mental states. Good career construction awareness and psychological adaptation can effectively relieve employment pressure, adjust sub-health mental states, and greatly improve students’ comprehensive mental health and career coping ability.

Conclusions

Employment psychological adaptation is a core factor supporting college students’ career development and mental health. Intervention strategies based on Career Construction Theory can effectively alleviate persistent employment psychological pressure, cultivate stable positive mental states, optimize students’ long-term mental health status, and provide references for college career psychological education.
