COEXISTENCE OF PRIMARY ADHESIVE CAPSULITIS IN PATIENTS WITH PREDIABETES – AN OBSERVATIONAL STUDY

Background Idiopathic adhesive capsulitis is one of the common disabling conditions associated with Diabetes Mellitus. In diabetes mellitus, the onsets of many complications are seen to develop before the onset of overt disease. The aim of our research is nd out the coexistence of idiopathic adhesive capsulitis in the prediabetic stage itself. Materials And Methods Settings - Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Biochemistry Departments, Govt. Medical College, Kozhikode, Kerala Study Design - Observational study. Statistical Analysis - Analysed using SPSS-18 package software. Patients with features of pain and reduction in range of motions of the shoulder are rst clinically assessed for the diagnosis of adhesive capsulitis and then they are investigated. Any relations with prediabetes are assessed by measuring fasting blood sugar, post prandial blood sugar. Observations are recorded. Results The movements of the shoulder are assessed. Fasting and postprandial blood sugar levels are assessed in all patients. Conclusion There is a signicant association between the adhesive capsulitis and prediabetes. The onset of adhesive capsulitis begins in the prediabetes stage.
