Clustering-Based Equivalence Modeling and Stability Analysis of Large-Scale Renewable Energy Plants
Shike Wang, Jinyu Wen, Yabing Sun, Lin CuiTo address the modeling and stability analysis of large-scale renewable energy plants, this paper proposes a K-means-based multi-device clustering and equivalent-model simplification method. A plant comprising 1000 MW wind turbines, a 250 MW/1000 MWh energy storage system, and ±384 Mvar static var generators is represented by five equivalent units connected in parallel. A total terminal-impedance model of the parallel equivalent-unit system is then developed, and its impedance intersections with the grid-side impedance are analyzed to assess the grid-connected stability of the renewable energy plant. Time-domain simulation results validate the accuracy of both the theoretical model and the stability assessment.
