Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Gallbladder Polyps: A Comprehensive Review of International Recommendations
Sunyoung LeeGallbladder (GB) polyps are commonly detected on abdominal ultrasound, and their management remains a clinical challenge. In 2022, three major international guidelines—the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound (SRU), the European joint-societal guidelines (ESGAR/EAES/EFISDS/ESGE), and the World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB)—proposed updated recommendations based on evolving evidence. These guidelines emphasize risk stratification based on size, morphology, and patient-related factors, while aiming to reduce unnecessary follow-up and surgery. This review synthesizes these guidelines and contextualizes their application in clinical radiologic practice.
