Intrauterine contents are a common ultrasound finding in bitches, with variable significance. Clinical, analytical and histopathological findings were compared between symptomatic and asymptomatic bitches with intrauterine contents that underwent ovariohysterectomy. In this cross‐sectional study, the majority were symptomatic (87.9%, 123/140). Cystic endometrial hyperplasia was the most frequent lesion, with greater severity in symptomatic bitches. Uterine disease in bitches showed a heterogeneous presentation. Haematological and biochemical abnormalities were common in both groups and showed a limited association with clinical signs. Further research is needed to determine the true role of haematological and biochemical markers as indicators of the clinical severity of uterine disease.
