Clash of Ideals: The Faculty–Administration Conflict at Moon Landing College

Johnny D. Jones

Abstract

Moon Landing College, nestled in the serene landscapes of southwest Idaho, has long been a bastion of academic excellence and innovation. However, beneath the idyllic surface lies a simmering conflict between the faculty and administration, fueled by grievances over labor practices, salaries, and bonuses. This case study delves into the escalating tensions between President Mr. Rubbard and Faculty Senate President Dr. Franklin. It explores the implications for the institution’s culture and governance, offering insights into the broader challenges of balancing fiscal responsibility with faculty satisfaction. By examining the key issues and proposed solutions, this study provides a roadmap for addressing labor disputes in higher education, emphasizing the importance of communication, transparency, and shared governance in fostering institutional harmony.
