Checklist of Mosses of Uzbekistan

The present checklist documents 241 moss taxa recorded from Uzbekistan, including 234 species, one subspecies, five varieties, and one form. Among them, 43 additional taxa were reported for the country. The checklist is based on a comprehensive critical revision of the published literature, herbarium collections, and recent taxonomic treatments. Historical records and synonymy were carefully re-evaluated in accordance with current international nomenclatural standards and modern bryological classifications. Out of 234 species, 78 have not been recorded for more than two decades. This updated synthesis provides a reliable and standardized account of the moss flora of Uzbekistan, correcting previous taxonomic inconsistencies and integrating recent floristic and distributional data. The results significantly enhance the understanding of bryophyte diversity in Central Asia and establish a solid baseline for future taxonomic, ecological, biogeographical, and conservation studies in the region.
