Case of Fatal Familial Insomnia Presenting With Prominent Inspiratory Stridor

Fatal familial insomnia is an exceedingly rare prion disease that typically presents with intractable insomnia. We report a 73‐year‐old female patient with fatal familial insomnia who exhibited prominent inspiratory stridor. Laryngoscopy revealed paralysis of the bilateral vocal folds, which induced stridor. This case highlights the clinical heterogeneity of fatal familial insomnia, demonstrating that vocal fold paralysis can be a primary clinical manifestation of the disease.
