Cancer Microbiota in Organ Axes and Utilization as a Biomarker in Cancer

Rohit Gundamaraju

The relationship between human microbiota and cancer has been a labyrinthine but lately has emerged as a principal area of research. Exploring aspects such as traces of microbiota in cancer, role of microorganisms in cancer progression and/or prevention, utilization of microbiota as a therapeutic intervention etc. would be extremely fetching for novel chemotherapeutics. This underscores the need for deeper understanding into the bidirectional relationship between microbiota and cancer. The Special Collection titled “Cancer microbiota in organ axes and utilization as a biomarker in cancer” brings together the importance of microbiota dual utility as both mechanistic driver and diagnostic tool in cancer. The thematic collections sheds light on how gut microbiota can remodel tumor microenvironment and play a key role in anti-tumor immunity.
