Can kilomasers pinpoint supermassive stars?

Katarzyna Nowak, Martin G. H. Krause

Abstract

We have proposed that the W1 kilomaser, associated with a super star cluster in the starburst galaxy NGC 253 could arise in an accretion disc around a supermassive star (SMS) with a mass of around 4000 M . Those hypothetical stars have been proposed as polluters responsible for chemical peculiarities in globular clusters.
