Botulinum Toxin for Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia

Recently, there has been a trend towards the treatment of androgenic alopecia (AGA) with botulinum toxin (BT), despite the lack of scientific rationale and adequate medical evidence for its efficacy. The proposed modes of action of intradermal and intramuscular BT for the treatment of AGA are to relieve tension in the scalp region and relax blood vessels and the hair raising muscle (HRM).
