Qualitative Methods in Digital Inquiry offers an accessible overview of 11 qualitative research traditions while considering how established methodologies can be applied in increasingly digital research environments. The volume covers ethnography, case study research, grounded theory, phenomenological research, narrative inquiry, discourse analysis, conversation analysis, action research, autoethnography and duo-autoethnography, netnography, and visual and arts-based methods. Its principal strength lies in its pedagogical clarity, practical orientation, and attention to reflexivity, ethics, and the development of emerging researchers. Several chapters, particularly those on ethnography, netnography, and discourse analysis, effectively demonstrate how qualitative methods can engage with digital platforms, online communities, and technology-mediated forms of communication. The book also addresses artificial intelligence, algorithmic bias, and the use of AI-assisted tools in qualitative research. At the same time, the integration of the digital dimension varies across chapters, with some approaches remaining more conventionally presented and incorporating digital applications later in the discussion. Overall, the volume is best understood as a broad and practical introduction to qualitative research in technology-rich settings. It will be particularly useful to doctoral students, early-career researchers, and instructors seeking a concise guide to qualitative methodologies with a contemporary digital orientation.
