Biologics in patients with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases and malignancies: a study derived from two registries

We report our experience of biologic treatment in patients with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases and a recent personal history of cancer. Two registries were interrogated: (i) the MISTIC registry, which includes patients with a chronic inflammatory dermatological, rheumatic and/or gastroenterological disease who had started biologics since 2007, and (ii) the local tumour registry of the Doubs district. In total, 94 patients were included in 2 cohorts: 28 patients with cancer diagnosed within 5 years before starting biologics (cohort 1) and 66 patients who developed cancer during biologic treatment (cohort 2).
