BIM Implementation in Oman’s Construction Industry: Critical Success Factors

Incorporation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Oman’s building and construction sector is at its nascent stage, with several barriers hindering its progress. This study identifies the key critical success factors (CSFs) essential for effective BIM implementation in Oman. The analysis reveals that positive support at the top management level, nurturing a skilled workforce proficient in BIM, government support (through standards or incentives), an adequate budget for BIM tools, and clear implementation strategies are among the most critical success factors for successful BIM implementation in the Omani construction industry. These findings highlight that non-technical, organisational factors—firm leadership commitment and human capital development—play a decisive role in BIM adoption in Oman.
