ABSTRACT
Pesticides have been instrumental in boosting agricultural output, however, their overuse leads to persistent residue accumulation, posing serious risks to both ecosystems and public health. Therefore, the development of eco‐friendly strategies for pesticide residues removal is urgently needed. Notably, photo‐thermal catalysis, which is capable of uniquely harnesses both light and heat to achieve high catalytic efficiency, has sparked widespread research interest. Herein, we report the design of a 3D/2D Bi 4 Ti 3 O 12 /Bi 2 O 2 Se heterojunction photo‐thermal catalyst, fabricated via a facile electrostatic self‐assembly strategy, which enables efficient glyphosate removal. Systematic investigations reveal that coupling Bi 2 O 2 Se with Bi 4 Ti 3 O 12 effectively expands the material's optical absorption range and accelerates the spatial migration and separation of photogenerated charge carriers. Furthermore, the synergistic integration of light and heat considerably accelerates the reaction kinetics, leading to effective photo‐thermal catalytic degradation of glyphosate molecules from water. Remarkably, the optimally designed Bi 4 Ti 3 O 12 /Bi 2 O 2 Se heterojunction affords exceptional photocatalytic activity for glyphosate removal with a degradation efficiency of 57.1% in 3 h, as well as an outstanding operational stability of 96.7% of its initial performance over consecutive reaction cycles. To the best of our knowledge, this work represents the first report on the application of photo‐thermal catalysis for pesticide residues removal.
