Between Institutional Fragmentation and Victim Resilience: A Critical Analysis of Support Mechanisms for Women Victims of Intimate Partner Violence in Morocco
Laila Mrabti, Zouhair Belamfedel AlaouiThis article examines institutional responses to intimate partner violence (IPV) in the Fes-Meknes region of Morocco across the health, judicial, and police sectors. Using a qualitative sociological design, it draws on semi-structured interviews with 44 women victims of IPV and 41 professionals. Data were analyzed through an inductive thematic approach informed by Braun and Clarke's framework. The findings reveal major gaps in institutional support, including unequal access to services, procedural burdens, limited emotional support, weak follow-up, and fragmented coordination. Overall, the study highlights the gap between formal protection mechanisms and their implementation, and calls for more integrated, victim-centered institutional responses.
