Better data for better healthcare: AI’s role in endoscopy
David ArmstrongBetter data for better healthcare: AI’s role in endoscopy
Accurate, timely information underpins every clinical decision and every credible plan to improve healthcare. However, much of the data acquired during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures remains difficult to retrieve or analyze. This is partly because it is difficult to capture information during procedures and partly because the captured information is often not recorded in a standardized, reproducible form. The current challenge of acquiring and reporting procedural data offers a practical opportunity to improve reporting, support professional learning and generate more useful data for health systems. Gastrointestinal endoscopy illustrates both the problem and the potential of this approach, which lies at the heart of A.I. VALI’s mission and development of the AIDREA™ platform. A.I. VALI aims to improve real-time reporting, clinical feedback and research by linking expert observations directly to images, video and structured records at the point of care.
