Abstract

Mexico harbors 146 bat species, nearly half occurring in Colima, one of the country’s smallest states. Colima is notable for its diversity of nectarivorous bats associated with tropical dry forests and adjacent agricultural habitats. We report the first records of Choeroniscus godmani and Hylonycteris underwoodi minor for Colima, and reassess records of Artibeus lituratus and Myotis albescens . Morphological and morphometric evidence indicates that large brown Artibeus from Colima correspond to Artibeus intermedius , whereas specimens previously identified as M. albescens correspond to Myotis carteri . Despite these new records, the bat checklist of Colima remains at 66 species, including 11 glossophagine nectarivores.
