Vishaja Sopha, as described in
Ashtangahrudaya,
denotes toxic-induced swelling and shows close resemblance to contact dermatitis, an inflammatory eczematous condition. This case report describes a 50-year-old male who presented with bilateral leg swelling, difficulty in walking, skin discoloration, and recurrent moderate fever for 24 days, attributed to toxic exposure through drainage water. Management was carried out based on
Chikitsa Sidhantha,
considering the exposure as
Visha dravya
, with
Asukari Chikitsa
aimed at
Samprapti Vighatana
, along with initial management of
Jwara
while assessing
Ama
and
Agni
. Posttreatment evaluation using the Short Form Health Survey questionnaire showed significant improvement in physical activity, along with marked reduction in
Sopha
(oedema) and complete resolution of
Vaivarnya
(discoloration). This case highlights that fundamental therapeutic principles are universal and supports the potential role of Ayurvedic management in conditions comparable to contact dermatitis.
