AUTODYN-Based Structural Response Analysis for Protective Performance Assessment of Missile Component Test Facility
Gyeongseop HwangThis study evaluated the protective performance of a missile component test facility against accidental explosions during combustion and storage. Using AUTODYN-based blast protection simulations, structural displacements and overpressure ingress were analyzed to verify the facility's protective performance. In Case 1, Building 1 (B1) experienced slab collapse and partial elastoplastic deformation of walls, limiting structural reusability. The protective barrier between B1 and Building 3 (B3) effectively functioned as a sacrificial element, demonstrating sufficient blast mitigation capability. For overpressure ingress into B3, certain locations exceeded both the 50 % eardrum rupture threshold and the critical eardrum rupture threshold; however, no pulmonary damage was predicted. In Case 2, Building 2 (B2) experienced plastic deformation of slabs, columns, and walls, resulting in structural collapse and precluding reuse. Overpressure entering B3 exceeded the 50 % eardrum rupture threshold at the opening and interior zones. At the lower opening, overpressure exceeded the critical pressure for pulmonary hemorrhage; however, it remained within the 99 % survival probability curve. B3 demonstrated no critical structural failure or back-face spalling; however, internal overpressure ingress emerged as the primary protective concern.
