Attractiveness, Novelty and Redundancy of Attributes of Consumer Products

Brian F. Blake, Robert Zenhausern, Sal Canale, Carlota Suarez

Summary .-Participating in separate studies of evaluations of consumer products, 219 undergraduate women judged the attractiveness, novelty, and the pairwise redundancy of each of 120 attributes of consumer products. Normative values of the items were calculated for each dimension of judgment. Attributes of attractiveness and novelty were independent of the alleged credibility of the source of information. Uses of the pool in studies of formation of attitude and change were discussed.
