Association between sociodemographic factors and cardiovascular risk assessed using QRISK3: A cross-sectional study
Ambrin Zenab, Sudhanshu Kacker, Neha SabooBackground:
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of mortality in India. Sociodemographic factors may be associated with cardiovascular risk but remain underexplored.
Methods:
This hospital-based cross-sectional study was conducted at RUHS-CMS, Jaipur. Among 220 participants aged 30–70 years recruited through convenience sampling from 1400 screened individuals. Sociodemographic and clinical data were collected, and cardiovascular risk was assessed using the QRISK3 calculator. Statistical analysis included the Chi-square test and Pearson’s correlation.
Results:
Out of 220 participants, 78.6% of the participants were classified as low CVD risk, 10.9% as moderate risk, and 10.5% as high risk according to QRISK3. Significant unadjusted associations were observed between QRISK3 risk category and age (
Conclusion:
Sociodemographic factors are significantly associated with cardiovascular risk. Lower SES is associated with higher CVD risk, highlighting the importance of integrating social determinants into risk assessment strategies.
