Asset Use Risk Management in the Agro-Industrial Complex: Theoretical and Methodological Foundations and Practical Solutions

Irina Demchenko, Asya Ionova, Karina Misyurina

This article examines the asset use risk management process in the agro-industrial complex (AIC) under conditions of increased uncertainty, climate change, and digital transformation. The article explores the nature and classification of risks specific to tangible, intangible, and biological assets in the AIC. Based on a systems-process approach and international standards (ISO 31000, COSO ERM), an adapted risk management model has been developed that takes into account seasonality, biological cycles, technological vulnerability, and regulatory aspects of agricultural production. An algorithm for integrating risk-based management into corporate planning systems, digital platforms for precision farming, and predictive maintenance is proposed. Particular attention is paid to the development of key risk indicators (KRIs), scenario modeling, insurance and hedging instruments, and organizational and managerial mechanisms for implementing a risk culture. The study's results can be used by agricultural holding management, government regulatory agencies, research organizations, and educational institutions when developing sustainable development strategies for the agro-industrial complex.
