Assessment of interregional differences in the level of losses and non-food consumption in agricultural product chains
Sergey Andryuschenko, Marianna Vasilchenko, Elena DerunovaThe reducing of losses and non-food consumption in food chains is an essential factor in the growth of added value and the sustainable development of agri-food systems. The article systematizes the existing theoretical approaches to the study of issues of managing the process of creating added value in food chains. A method for an integrated assessment of losses and non-food consumption is proposed and tested, based on the Rosstat methodology for determining the level of self-sufficiency in food by main food groups. The aggregated values of the amounts of losses and non–food industrial consumption by federal districts and regions of Russia are calculated in the context of five food groups. The assessment of interregional differences was carried out using the ratio of the sum of losses and non-food consumption to the volume of production of the types of food products under consideration; the values of this indicator were also compared with indicators of innovative agricultural development in the regions. As a result, significant fluctuations in the analyzed food groups were revealed, and in a number of regions there was a direct relationship between the level of losses and innovative parameters.
