ASSESSMENT OF CYTOKINE BALANCE IN WOMEN WITH CHRONIC ODONTOGENIC INFECTION IN THE PERIAPICAL REGION OF THE TOOTH WITH CYCLIC CHANGES IN GONADOTROPIC AND STEROID HORMONES
Faniya Mirsaeva, Oskar Yakupov, Al'bina Bulgakova, Rasima HaybullinaSubject. In women of reproductive age with chronic odontogenic infection, pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines were studied, taking into account changes in the hormonal background. The aim is to assess the cytokine balance in women of reproductive age with chronic odontogenic infection in periapical tooth tissues at different stages of the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle. Methodology. In the serum of three groups of women of reproductive age (control and two subgroups in the main group), levels of LH, FSH, progesterone and estradiol were determined in all stages of the follicular phase, and pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines in the oral fluid. ELISA methods were used. The criteria for inclusion of patients in the study groups were: reproductive age, ovulatory menstrual cycle, the absence of chronic somatic diseases, the absence of chronic odontogenic infection in the periapical tissues of the tooth for the control group (its presence in two subgroups of the main group; in one subgroup in the stabilization stage, in the other - exacerbations), the absence of periodontal diseases, the absence of hormonal contraceptives. Results. A direct correlation between cytokines and the level of gonadotropic and steroid hormones was revealed. Conclusions. In women of reproductive age in the late stage of the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle, a change in estradiol levels affects the activity of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines. Chronic inflammation in the periapical tissues of the tooth is in a stage of stabilization with the active production of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 and a decrease in the activity of TNF- ᾳ, IL-1 β. Exacerbation of the chronic inflammatory process occurs with a decrease in both IL-4 and IL-10 levels.
