Aspirin: old and new

Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is one of the most commonly used drugs today. Initially used as a potent analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic agent, its uses have expanded considerably over the years, and new therapeutic indications are still being researched. This review looks briefly at the established uses and outlines some of the developing areas.
