Blepharoplasty has become popular in Asian countries. There is an increasing number of patients undergoing the procedure. Many studies have been conducted on the satisfaction of blepharoplasty, with a high rate of satisfactory outcomes. However, there is currently a lack of research on blepharoplasty satisfaction in Vietnamese medical literature. Our aim was to assess Vietnamese blepharoplasty patients' satisfaction.
The research tools included Blepharoplasty Outcome Evaluation (BOE), Glasgow Benefit Inventory (GBI), and Derriford Assessment Scale 24 (DAS24) Questionnaire scores. BOE and DAS24 were assessed at three points: preoperation, 1-month post-operation, and 3-month post-operation, while GBI was evaluated at two points: 1-month post-operation and 3-month post-operation.
From December 2022 to December 2024, 193 blepharoplasty cases consented to participate in the study. Forty-three patients lost contact after 1 to 3 months. Therefore, we have a total of 150 patients included in this study. The mean age of the participants was 45 ± 14 years, and 137 (91%) were females. The BOE total score, particularly three of its items, “You like your eyes,” “Friends/family like your eyes,” and “You are confident of your eyes,” improved significantly in the course of a 3-month follow-up (p <0.001). The DAS24 score, GBI total score, and General Benefit and Social Support subscores improved significantly over time.
Blepharoplasty significantly enhanced patients' overall satisfaction with their appearance, as reflected by GBI, BOE, and DAS24 scores.
