Background

Research network formation facilitates global health research collaboration, however, impact evaluations are limited. Our collaborative Asia-Pacific Vaccine Research Network (APVRN) aims to strengthen vaccine research capacity and partnerships and document impact. The network was established by our first Australia Awards Fellowship awardee cohort (2023).

Objective

To describe knowledge and translation outcomes following the participation of fellows in a training program.

Methods

Fellows attended three training workshops, co-designed and co-delivered using a case-based approach. A training evaluation included anonymised pre- and post-workshop surveys to assess topic knowledge.

Results

Fifteen fellows from seven Asia-Pacific countries participated and indicated workshops were relevant to daily work. Prior to workshops, most fellows reported no or little knowledge of included topics. Following workshops, knowledge gain was reported across all topics.

Conclusions

The APVRN demonstrated professional development with applied and shared learnings and mentoring of next generation of leaders. The network will promote public health in the Asia-Pacific through collective efforts and creation of opportunities for scientific collaboration.
