Xiang Wenjing, Hana Marešová, Shamshad Khan

This paper investigates the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education from technological, pedagogical, and policy perspectives. It presents a PRISMA-informed thematic-policy synthesis of 52 scholarly and institutional sources and reviews current applications of AI in education, including intelligent feedback mechanisms, adaptive learning platforms, and automated assessment tools. The findings indicate that these innovations can support personalized learning pathways, student engagement, and teaching efficiency. The study also examines how education systems are responding to AI-related societal challenges through curricular change, the integration of digital and computational skills, and expanded opportunities for lifelong learning and competency development within and beyond formal education. Furthermore, the review examines critical governance and ethical considerations, including equity, data quality, data interoperability, teacher agency, and responsible data stewardship. It identifies technological readiness, coherent policy frameworks, and capacity building, and human-centered design as essential to ensure the successful integration of AI in education. The article concludes that AI can improve educational quality and equitable access when it is implemented in inclusive, transparent, and well-governed learning environments.
