Artificial Intelligence for Coronectomy Decision‐Making: Towards Precision Prevention of Inferior Alveolar Nerve Injury
Parmanand DhanrajaniABSTRACT
Inferior alveolar nerve injury remains a significant complication of mandibular third molar surgery. Coronectomy is a recognised alternative to complete extraction in selected high‐risk cases, but treatment selection still relies heavily on clinician experience and radiographic interpretation. Artificial intelligence may improve risk stratification by integrating panoramic, CBCT and clinical variables to support individualised prediction of nerve injury and guide decision‐making. While promising, these tools require rigorous validation before clinical adoption.
