Apremilast in Reducing Ulcer Frequency and Severity in a 2‐Year‐Old Child With Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis

Tinglan Yang, Qing Liu, Zhenlai Zhu

ABSTRACT

This case report describes a 2‐year‐old boy with recurrent oral ulcers over 6 months, requiring up to 2 weeks to heal and reaching 8–10 mm in diameter. After excluding Behçet's disease and other conditions, recurrent aphthous stomatitis was diagnosed. Apremilast was initiated with gradual dose escalation to 10 mg twice daily, leading to a significant reduction in ulcer frequency and severity. This case suggests apremilast may be a viable option for very young children with severe recurrent aphthous stomatitis, though careful dose titration and monitoring are essential.
