Application of GIS and AHP in the assessment of forest fires vulnerability in the Pcinja distirct

Due to the increasing human impact on the planet's climate, most often negative, in response, major changes occur that require subsequent efforts to "rehabilitate". One of those problems, especially in the last quarter century, is problem of forest fires. Due to increasing temperatures, especially in the summer, forest fires have become a frequent occurrence, which is also the case in Serbia. Therefore, the application of GIS systems and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods represent important tools for achieving the above-mentioned goals and combating the problems that surround us. The main goal in this study is to determine the main explanatory variables for forest fire occurrence using AHP model and GIS systems. They have their advantages and disadvantages, but here the emphasis is on the positive effect and the use of their advantages in presenting possible solutions to solvable problems. The final map can serve as a basis for showing potential hotspots for forest fires. The final fig. present model of vulnerability of making forest fires in Pcinja district. The area with the lowest vulnerability is around lake Vlasina in north-east part of district and represents 3.5% of the entire territory and the area with highest vulnerability is in south-west area with 6.1% coverage of area.
