Roland Iosif Moraru, Diana PopaAbstract
Statistical analysis of work accidents is essential for identifying common causes, assessing risks and implementing preventive measures that contribute to improving safety and health in the professional environment. The information provided by the history of undesirable events produced in an industrial field marked over time by multiple events with catastrophic consequences, such as underground coal mining from gritty deposits with a pronounced tendency to self-ignition, will facilitate organizational learning in order to optimize prevention. This article provides a structured and coherent picture of the undesirable “landscape” of work accidents occurring at a mining unit in the Jiu Valley, based on the analysis of their typology and causality, formulating a series of relevant conclusions and realistic and pragmatic proposals intended to substantiate prevention-protection plans aimed at minimizing specific risks.
