Analysis of the Inner Mechanism and Effect of New Quality Productivity in Promoting the High-Quality Development of the Manufacturing Industry

This study investigates the impact of New-Quality Productive Forces (NQPF) on the high-quality development of China's manufacturing industry, focusing on structural challenges and regional disparities. The research explores the mechanisms through which NQPF drives this development, regional heterogeneity, and spatial spillover effects.
Methods:
Using provincial panel data from 2012 to 2022, a dual-dimensional evaluation system for NQPF and high-quality manufacturing development was constructed. Weights for the system were assigned using the entropy method. The study then conducted empirical analysis through a mediation effects model and a Spatial Durbin Model (SDM) to examine the relationships between NQPF and high-quality manufacturing development.
Results:
The findings reveal that NQPF significantly promotes high-quality manufacturing development, with technological innovation serving as a key mediator. NQPF improves manufacturing efficiency and facilitates green transformation. A favorable policy environment enhances this effect, with regional heterogeneity following an "eastern > central > western" gradient. Notably, spatial spillover effects were observed, with an indirect effect of 0.396 on neighboring regions and a total effect of 0.560.
Discussion:
This research highlights the dual pathways of technological innovation transmission through patents and policy moderation, confirming regional imbalances and spatial synergy. Emerging technologies, such as 5G and AI, are accelerating the development of new productive forces. Future efforts should focus on enhancing patent commercialization and promoting cross-regional technology diffusion.
Conclusion:
Strengthening patent conversion, optimizing policy adaptability, and implementing regionally differentiated strategies are essential to fully realize the enabling effects of NQPF on manufacturing sector upgrades.
