Objective: To investigate the application value of psychological nursing in critically ill respiratory patients. Methods: A total of 120 critically ill respiratory patients admitted to the respiratory department were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table, with 60 cases in each group. The control group received conventional nursing care, while the observation group received additional psychological nursing interventions, including emotional guidance, cognitive support, and relaxation training, in addition to conventional care. The self-rated anxiety scale (SAS) scores, self-rated depression scale (SDS) scores, and treatment adherence were compared between the two groups before and after intervention. Results: The SAS and SDS scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05); the treatment adherence rate in the observation group (92.5%) was higher than that in the control group (72.5%), with both differences being statistically significant (P<0. 05). Conclusion: The application of psychological nursing in the care of critically ill respiratory patients can alleviate anxiety and depression, improve treatment adherence, and demonstrates clinical value.
