Analysis of Memes with Anti-Tale Elements Published on a Satirical Website and their Significance for Folklorization
Ľubomír GáborAbstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the ways and practices of folklorization – dissemination and iterativity – of selected memes on the satirical website Zomri.sk and in its profile on social networks (on Facebook). The aforementioned satirical website is one of the most popular and most visited in Slovakia and provides space for building a specific online community of people with liberal-value attitudes. Its significant contribution from the perspective of folklore studies lies in the fact that it creatively, epigrammatically concisely and humorously comments on and criticizes socially significant or important phenomena and thus becomes a significant inspirational model for recipients who share, further disseminate and creatively vary the published outputs on this website, thereby contributing to the enrichment of folklore material in Slovakia. In this study, the ways of online interactions (dissemination and iterativity) will be traced on the material of anti-tales, which are among the most frequent satirical texts (memes) on this website.
