Analysis Of Autonomous Vehicles Traffic Behaviour In Terms Of Various Vehicle Following Models On Kavacik Sample

Mehmet Çağrı Kızıltaş
Autonomous vehicles are evaluated as future transport mode. Autonomous vehicles use electrical energy for driving. Shifting electricity use on transport on widely is going to effect worldwide policies on energy sector and sustainability framework in deeply. Autonomous vehicles will be a new transformer on this century’s transportation and urbanization. But thus will be with gradual penetration of this mode for decades. This is a political, eoconomical and technical necessity. In this paper firstly existing transportation and urbanization trends are revelaed then development period and existing case of autonomous vehicles are evaluated. Traffic analyse related to basic features of autonomous vehicles on the context of penetration is executed. This analyse is constituted on VISSIM programme. For this, traffic countings are utilized which have been done on highway in Beykoz (Kavacık)/İstanbul at related dates. Detailed analyse and comparative evaluation were done on the bases of Wiedemann 74 and Wiedemann 99 models. Autonomous vehicle was defined in terms of Wiedemann 99 following principles. Defined autonomous vehicle is inserted to programme in terms of penetration rates and each of them is examined on a scenario. In this context results are given.
