Analysis of aesthetic experience in the aesthetics of Alexander Gerard
Sasa GrbovicThis article is dedicated to one part of Alexander Gerard’s aesthetic point of view, which refers to his understanding of the aesthetic experience of a work of art and represents the basis of his further considerations on taste. Gerard bases his conception of aesthetic experience on the connection between specific pleasure and the mental activity from which it arises. In accordance with that, the reconstruction and interpretation of his thoughts on aesthetic experience is carried out based on the object analysis on the one hand, and on the other hand the analysis of the subject’s inner experience. Also, through the research, the associationist theory that is present in his analysis of both the work of art and the productive aesthetic experience of the artist-creator is highlighted.
