An Interpretation of the Foundations of Process

Pasi Heikkurinen

Abstract

Chapter 4 begins the task of defining what process is. It outlines a process orientation that begins with all. From all, we move to a pole around which to orientate: The Overall Process Orientation (TOPO). All processes have—or are in—a general skeleton, which can be called the edifice, a map for our orientation exercise. In the edifice of process, which is not structure but a process, the relations between cosmos, nature, the world, and its cultures are delineated. The chapter goes on to connect the notion of self and life to the process, which find their place in the hierarchy of the process edifice.
