An integrated framework for developing a national industrial technology roadmap: Thailand perspectives

Design/methodology/approach
The methodology incorporates drivers and trends analysis, social network analysis and technology readiness assessments into the roadmapping process. This approach is demonstrated through a roadmap development case of the automotive industry in Thailand.
Findings
This study presents the approach for establishing a national industrial technology roadmap that aligns the national goals with technology capabilities indicated through the assessment of technology readiness levels (TRLs) and uses the social network analysis to promote technological collaborations among stakeholders.
Originality/value
This study presents the integrated framework to formulate a national industrial technology roadmap as an integral component of broader national strategic planning aimed at enhancing technological capabilities and future preparedness. It presents a systematic approach to developing such a roadmap by aligning national objectives with TRLs. Social network analysis is also used to strengthen technological collaboration among key stakeholders.
