An extensive review of periodontal and osteogenic approaches in accelerated orthodontics

S. Anitha, J. Dakshina

The area of Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics (PAOO) has expanded exponentially in recent years through congruous fusion between periodontal therapy and orthodontics. This literature review aims to comprehensively analyze the existing research on PAOO, including its historical background, biological mechanisms, and clinical applications. The article discusses different types of surgery used in PAOO, such as conventional corticotomy, laser therapy, and micro-osteoperforations. These methods aim to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement while preserving periodontal health. Additionally, comparisons between conventional and advanced methodologies are presented to highlight the evolution of minimally invasive approaches. Through an evaluation of scientific background behind PAOO, the current article provides an organized summation of efficacy, benefits, and limitations to be an aid to practicing professionals and researchers in practicing orthodontics and periodontology.
