Nadire Dinçkurt, Sıddık Bakır
Purpose: This study aims to contribute to the field of Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language (TTFL) by adapting Rıfat Ilgaz’s short story Şeker Kutusu to the A2 proficiency level within the framework of text linguistic criteria. Method: The study employs qualitative research design using document analysis. The selected literary text was analyzed based on CEFR descriptors, the European Language Portfolio and text linguistic principles. Findings: The adaptation process included lexical simplification, syntactic restructuring, and clarification of complex expressions while preserving narrative coherence. The findings indicate that the adapted text supports comprehension and vocabulary development at the A2 level. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that literary texts can be systematically adapted according to linguistic criteria without losing their literary value, thereby making them accessible to beginner learners.
