Abstract: The present study aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the Personal Wellbeing Index (PWI) as a measure of subjective wellbeing in the Bangladeshi context. The study utilized data from an online survey comprising the PWI and the Mental Health Continuum Short Form (MHC-SF). The final sample comprised 370 participants ( M = 24.62 years, SD = 5.87, 59.2% men). The results of the confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the unidimensional factor structure and superior construct validity of the PWI-7 over the PWI-8. The modern test theory analysis revealed that each of the items had adequate discrimination ability; and this was more rigorous for those who scored low than high. The internal consistency measures also yielded excellent reliability estimates for the Bangla PWI-7. Thus, the psychometric properties of the Bangla PWI-7 in both the classical and modern test theory approaches suggest it has good internal consistency and convergent validity as a measure of subjective wellbeing in the Bangladeshi context.
