AN APPRAISAL OF CHALLENGES OF MODERN EMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA

Contact of employment is a creation of relationship between the employer and the employee. The relationship brings about the right, duties and responsibilities of both parties to the contract. In other words the terms and conditions specified in the contract are to some extent to be observed which most times include collective bargaining, collective agreement, method of termination of employment as well as welfare and health packages. Despite the availabilities of these packages, there are still some challenges befalling modern employment in Nigeria. These problems have been enumerated in course of this study and suggestions have also been stated in order to reduce the problems to a nearest minimum. Some international recommendations and conventions have been recommended for adoption and ratification in our local laws so as to be line with the best global practices in labour which eventually would lead to sustainable industrial relationship.
