An acid-free process for selective REE recovery from spent NdFeB magnets by room-temperature electrolysis

An acid-free electrochemical process has been developed for the selective recovery of REEs from EOL NdFeB magnets at room temperature. Fe2+ produced by NdFeB was oxidized at and hydrolyzed to Fe(OH)3in situ to separate from REEs. Subsequently, the recycling of ZnCl2 electrolyte was realized.
