The European Commission’s Safe Hearts Plan aims to reduce premature cardiovascular deaths by 25% by 2035. This article highlights the urgent need for innovative screening and detection methods. In December 2025, the European Commission unveiled the Safe Hearts Plan, representing the first comprehensive, EU-wide framework dedicated to tackling the continent’s leading public health crisis. Despite continuous advances, cardiovascular diseases (CVD) continue to claim 1.7 million lives annually across the European Union. Beyond the human toll, the macroeconomic burden is staggering, costing healthcare systems and society over €282 billion every year. (1)
