FuThe search for emitter geometries that enhance device performance is an important aspect of modern vacuum electronics. Emission structure combining high field enhancement with maximized effective emission areas are desirable for low turn-on fields and stable high currents. This work presents a comparative analysis between various field emission architectures. Simulation results indicate that geometric modulation significantly enhances performance: optimized structures exhibit reduced field enhancement, yet markedly larger effective emission areas under higher applied fields. Notably, the blade emitter with a longitudinal ellipsoidal apex profile achieves the greatest emission area, indicating the most favorable current density distribution among all configurations investigated.
