Abstract

Titanium has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metallic element and is corrosion-resistant. However, its cost is often a limiting factor in its use in industrial and medical applications. Additive manufacturing (AM) is changing the outlook for titanium, particularly because it can reduce much of the material waste associated with traditional subtractive manufacturing processes.
