Adaptation and Psychometric Validation of the Slovak Versions of ERQ and CERQ Questionnaires
Josef Hamza, Jakub RajčániAbstract: Objectives: In Study 1, we aimed to develop Slovak versions of the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). In Study 2, we proposed an adjustment to the CERQ Acceptance subscale and added a new Resignation subscale. Sample and Settings: The instruments were tested with 481 adult Slovak participants in Study 1 and 213 adult Slovak participants in Study 2. We examined the factor structure and reliability of both questionnaires as reported by their original authors. Results: In Study 1, we found promising factor structures and good reliability coefficients for both questionnaires, with the CERQ Acceptance subscale as a notable exception. In Study 2, the adjusted CERQ-40 exhibited an overall improvement over the original translation. The discussion addresses potential directions for the ERQ and CERQ, correlations between their subscales and two related measures (PANAS and PSS-10), and gender differences.
