Acute macular neuroretinopathy due to decompression sickness: A case report

Camila Gómez-Salgado, Maria Camila Jaramillo, Jorge Rafael Mendez

Acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) is a rare retinal disorder characterized by distinct wedge-shaped parafoveal lesions, often triggered by respiratory illness, medications, or trauma. This case report describes a unique presentation of AMN potentially triggered by decompression sickness (DCS) in a recreational scuba diver with no significant medical history. While ocular involvement in DCS is uncommon, this case adds valuable insights into the unusual intersection between these two conditions.
